ARTIST BIO

Brielle Fowlkes is an actress, singer, poet, and director whose passion resides in making transformational, powerful, and honest works that exhort black and brown stories. As a black woman in the arts, Brielle grew up with a lack of representation that would give her the empowerment she needed, so she dedicated herself to telling more stories that made little black girls know they were seen. Brielle's mission as an artist is to be a catalyst for empowerment and celebration of black bodies and black stories.

Graduating with a BA in Theatre Arts from Taylor University in 2020, Brielle's catalog is filled with acting roles in plays such as "Clybourne Park", "Metamorphoses", "Godspell", and many others. She also directed the full-length show, "Defamation", as well as several short plays. Brielle holds several achievements from the Kennedy Center of the Arts Theatre Festival, such as The Red Ace Recipient in 2020, an award given to someone whose work shows excellence in the field of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion; ASPIRE Finalist in 2019 and 2020 for ideas to further American Theatre's role in the work of antiracism; and Irene Ryan Finalist in 2020 excellence in acting.

In 2021, Brielle served as the director of a year-long anti-racist theatre program for middle and high schoolers in Homestead, Florida. Currently, she works alongside Robin Sanders, a well-known artist in the Miami area, creating works that capture black stories that bring beauty and liberation. They both are preparing a traveling, evening-length work titled, "Love Is the New Black".  Brielle is also developing her first short film entitled "Sisterhood", a concept folklore video about the power of black sisterhood, which she has both written and performed in. Brielle hopes to continue telling bold stories that are rooted in truth, love, and blackness that enrich and equip her community.
